Location: Onsite - Livonia, MI

Shift Hours     • Shift hours will be discussed in the interview
Schedule Notes     • 10- hour shift; 4- days a week         • 8am-7:30pm      • Candidate must have at least 2 years experience with Dialysis


Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients receiving dialysis treatments under the direction of the Dialysis Nurse Manager/Coordinator. The RN performs patient assessments, develops and implements individualized care plans, monitors and adjusts dialysis therapy, administers medications, provides patient education, and evaluates patient responses to treatment. The RN also provides leadership and oversight of assigned clinical and technical staff while promoting safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform admission and ongoing physical and psychosocial assessments of dialysis patients.

  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on clinical needs and treatment goals.

  • Monitor and adjust dialysis therapy according to patient needs and established protocols.

  • Provide direct patient care and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Administer and monitor medications in accordance with policies and physician orders.

  • Perform blood-drawing procedures and other required nursing interventions.

  • Perform dialysis-related technical skills, including cannulation, machine setup, and disinfection.

  • Document assessments, treatments, nursing interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.

  • Provide ongoing patient education, rehabilitation support, and modality education.

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, hospital departments, outside agencies, dialysis facilities, patients, and families.

  • Function as part of an interdisciplinary team and oversee care provided by clinical technicians and assigned non-licensed personnel.

  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities and provide leadership, direction, and support to assigned staff.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, compliant work environment and follow infection prevention and control requirements.

  • Follow HIPAA, confidentiality, patient safety, and organizational policies.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, problem-solving, teamwork, and respect for patients and families

Qualifications
Required

  • Graduate of a state-approved school of nursing.

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with the applicable State Board of Nursing.

  • Minimum of 12 months of nursing experience.

  • Minimum of 3 months of experience providing nursing care to maintenance hemodialysis patients prior to assuming Charge Nurse responsibilities.

  • Strong assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a complex and changing healthcare environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, patient-centered care, and continuous learning.

  • Ability to meet applicable physical and clinical requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Charge Nurse or dialysis leadership experience.

  • Additional dialysis-specific clinical experience.

Required Certification & Licensure

  • Current Registered Nursing (RN) License.

Working Conditions
Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
