Title: Registered Sleep Technologist
Location: Onsite - Detroit, MI

Shift Hours

  • 7:30PM - 6:30AM Schedule Notes Requirements:
  • Candidate MUST be registered
  • Candidate must have BLS
  • Prefers candidate with experience working with children
  • ***will work with patients starting at 5 years of age
  • Candidate will receive on the job training with Epic SCHEDULE
  • 4- days a week, 10- hour shift
  • 730pm - 630am IMPORTANT NOTE

Job Summary
The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist performs and oversees complex sleep studies and therapeutic interventions, including CPAP and BiPAP titrations. Supports technicians during challenging data acquisition, ensures high-quality polysomnographic recordings, scores and tabulates sleep studies according to established guidelines, and prepares detailed reports for physician interpretation. Maintains compliance with BRPT standards and applicable sleep center policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform complex polysomnographic procedures and therapeutic interventions.

  • Perform CPAP and BiPAP titrations according to established protocols.

  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting during challenging data acquisition to ensure accurate, high-quality sleep studies (PSGs).

  • Score and tabulate sleep recordings, including sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements, and other relevant parameters.

  • Apply HFHS Sleep Center Guidelines for Sleep Reliability scoring.

  • Generate detailed sleep study reports and performance summaries for physician interpretation.

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation related to sleep studies.

  • Follow established clinical, safety, and sleep center procedures.

  • Maintain compliance with Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Standards of Conduct.

  • Provide appropriate care and support to patients throughout sleep studies.

  • Work with patients beginning at 5 years of age.

  • Participate in ongoing learning and professional development.

  • Complete on-the-job training for Epic and utilize the system appropriately for required documentation and workflows.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.

  • Strong knowledge of HFHS Sleep Center Guidelines for Sleep Reliability scoring.

  • Ability to perform and score polysomnographic studies according to established guidelines.

  • Knowledge of CPAP and BiPAP titration procedures.

  • Ability to troubleshoot challenging data acquisition and ensure quality PSG recordings.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret sleep study data.

  • Ability to prepare clear and detailed reports for physician interpretation.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with patients, technicians, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Must be comfortable working with patients starting at 5 years of age.

  • Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred.

  • Ability to learn and use Epic; on-the-job Epic training will be provided.

Required Certification & Licensure

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) required.

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.

  • Current BLS/BCLS certification must be maintained.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be registered as an RPSGT.

  • Must maintain required certification and professional standards.

  • Candidate will receive on-the-job training with Epic.


Working Conditions
Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
